AIIMS project gets delayed due to non-eviction of land ‘encroachers’

The establishment stone laying service of AIIMS at Rakh Barotian is said to have been delayed because of the affirmed failure of the experts worried to expel “encroachers” of the land designated to it by the administration. As indicated by authority sources, the state government has made a bundle for the lasting settlement of the families who are living on this land yet they have rejected this package.

There were also some forces within the government who were in favour of delaying of the AIIMS project, sources alleged. 
While the divisional commisioner,Jammu, SSP, Samba, DC, Samba, and SDM, Vijaypur, have paid visits to the families, the last claim that they have been guaranteed by a few pioneers that no one would drive them to acknowledge the package and move to different places.
The farmers, whose grounds have been told by the division for procurement for the foundation of AIIMS, are sitting tight for the “families” to be moved to different places so that work on the development of prestigious hospital is not delayed any further.

A year after Government of India gave formal gesture to setting up of AIIMS-like wellbeing foundation in Kashmir, the experts concerned are yet to yet to start work on the project which is coming up at Awantipora in Pulwama districtSources said in spite of the fact that the land measuring 1500 kanals stands exchanged to State Health and Medical Education Department for six months now, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which is the executing organization for the project, hasn’t taken up the development.

An official said government was facing problems in eviction of nomads settled on the land belonging to forest department at Vijaypur which had been identified for the AIIMS. Out of 1900 kanals of land identified there, only 293 kanals is state land and about 1400 kanals of land belong to Forest department which was yet to be transferred to Health and Medical Education Department, said the official.
The state government had on May 27, 2016 received approval from the government of India for construction of the two primer institutes for J&K.
To a question about the delay in start of work on AIIMS at Awantipora, Nodal Officer for the project, Dr Yashpal Sharma, evaded direct response. “The project will be executed by Central Public Works Department (CPWD), a central authority. We have no role in it,” he said. However he asserted that there was no deliberate delay in taking up the work.
AIIMS Kashmir is Rs 2000 crore hospital extend that will have a limit of 1000 beds, including 300 super forte beds. It will have a Medical College with admission limit of 100 understudies, flanked by a Nursing College with yearly limit of 60 students. Setting up of the super claim to fame AIIMS in Kashmir was a piece of coalition government’s Agenda of Alliance.
